The Company was started by Messers. Lamy & Akar in 1924. Chief designer Edmond Mutet.
In 1924 the Grand Sport of 1078 cubic capacity featured a fully pressurised lubrication system, and later versions including the CS Course of 1926 became a very successful in racing.
From 1930 both tourers and sports cars were fitted with 1994cc V8 engines, ,engine capacity being increased in 1931 to 2,330 cc.
From 1935 Delahaye and Hotchkiss oversaw engine development and refinement, and the introduction of a FWD system in collaboration with Gregoire Tracta.
Production of Amilcars commenced in 1921 , and concluded in 1939.
The most sought after model is the supercharged Sports Super 6 cylinder manufactured between 1927 - 29, and the 6c FWD of 1928.
